Société Mondiale du Vin event October 14th

Dear Fellow Mondiale Members,

Our next event will be on Sunday, October 14th at 6:30 pm at the Palm Restaurant located at 701 Ross Avenue.  The dress will be casual with ribbons.  This event will be a dinner that will emphasize our camaraderie through the sharing of wines.  Kevin Kia, our Gastronomique, and I recently attended a fantastic event at Sevy’s hosted by a group that calls itself “Boys Nite Out” where attendees bring 2 or more bottles of wine thematically selected to share with the group.  There were almost 50 individuals at the event and as it was so successful, we have decided to model our event on this same vein and to invite this group to join us.  To accompany the meal we ask the you please bring 1 bottle of any California Cabernet or Meritage wine from any year in the 1990’s and 1 bottle of Chardonnay from anywhere in the world.  It will be interesting to see what individuals bring and how the different wines pair with the entrees.

The Palm is very generous in not charging any corkage.  They also do not require any deposit for the room or any minimum number of attendees although we would like to have a good turnout.  There are several menu options but the one that looked the most attractive to me is the one that is attached.  Counting service charges, the cost of the dinner will be approximately $110.00 per person.  As the restaurant does not require a minimum, you will not need to submit payment to us in advance but will be expected to pay the bill directly at the restaurant.

Although we have the option to choose a more modest menu that would be somewhat less expensive, given the quality of the steak and side option, I believe our group would prefer this menu.  I am open to feedback, however, and if the majority of you would be interested in fewer options, this could be modified.  As I am planning on sending this offer to the Boys Nite Out Group early next week, I would appreciate any feedback as soon as possible if you have any.

We can accommodate up to 60 people at this event.  This is a good opportunity for us to showcase the Chaine and the Mondiale and event to create and sing a few stanzas of our hospitality song.  Please let me know as soon as possible if you will be able to attend.  We will need to let the restaurant know in advance what our numbers will be so I need a final count no later than October 11.  I look forward to seeing you there.

Vive L’Ordre Mondiale.
